THE NEON OASIS: LIGHTS, LAUGHS & SOME SERIOUSLY INTERESTING ROLLER SKATING

Twelve people knew we were heading to the Desert Botanical Garden.

What they didn’t know was quite how different the garden would look after dark—or who we would end up watching on roller skates later that night.

THEY CAME TO SEE THE GARDEN. THEY FOUND A NEON OASIS.

Our second PHX Social Club experience brought 12 people together for an evening at the Desert Botanical Garden.

But this wasn’t the garden most of us had seen before.

After sunset, the familiar trails and desert plants were transformed by colorful lights glowing through the trees, illuminating the cacti and creating unexpected splashes of color throughout the garden.

We explored the garden together, stopped for photos and discovered that walking through the desert at night is much more interesting when everything around you appears to be glowing.

More importantly, the experience gave people time to talk, laugh and get to know one another as we made our way through the garden—which is exactly what these small PHX experiences are supposed to accomplish.

AND THEN THERE WERE THE ROLLER SKATERS.

After exploring the garden, we made our way to the secret patio for food, drinks and more time together.

That’s when the evening took another turn.

Nearby, a collection of interesting characters was circling the roller rink—some showing off genuine skating skills and others simply giving us something unexpected to watch.

We’re not going to judge.

We’re just going to say the people-watching was every bit as colorful as the garden.

The lights brought us to the garden.

The patio gave us a place to relax.

The roller skaters gave us something to talk about.

But the best part of the night was bringing 12 people together for an experience they could share.
